Preserve & Enhance

“Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out. “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear” (Luke 14:34-35).

Salt is to preserve. Salt is to enhance flavor.

Jesus says we are supposed to be like salt, we are supposed to be care for His kingdom. We are supposed to enhance the life of others. If we don’t do this, if we are not “salty”, then what good are we? We are not even good for the manure pile and we risk be thrown out. Don’t be one who is thrown out! Instead, commit yourself to a life that is meaningful. It really does matter how we live our lives. It is not simply about accepting Jesus just so you can get into heaven. It is about being a preserver and an enhancer of others. It is about being salt. It is really important that we understand this, because so many do so little for the One who gave so much.

So, let me ask you, is your life meaningful? Are you making your life count? Who are you serving? Where are you giving? What kind of legacy are you leaving? Where are you preserving and enhancing the lives of others? Who do you need to be salt to?
