Friends Ministry

Kids Connect

The Friends Ministry provides compassion and inclusion for children who have special needs. This is accomplished through a class designed for children unable to participate in our Sunday morning Kids Connect, and supplies a one-on-one friend for those who can, to facilitate learning. Would you be interested in serving as a Sunday morning friend/mentor, or one-on-one with a child in a classroom? There are many opportunities to serve in this critical ministry.

Release Ministries Mentors

Release Ministries mentors come alongside youth, becoming a trusted friend and guide. We partner with churches and individuals who are troubled about the breakdown of family, fatherlessness, and lack of hope that characterizes the high-risk families of Omaha.  We do this through a unique variety of programs and ministry tools, including our Juvenile Justice Mentoring Program.

Silver Tsunami Ministry

Fall 2017

“Open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” —John 4:35b

Demographers estimate that 3 million people presently reside in care centers in the U.S. By 2040, that number increases to 60 million. 80% of those people have few, if anyone, visitors. Who will share the love of Christ with them?

Silver Tsunami is a Bible-based ministry to the elderly, infirm, those with dementia, the sick, and the dying. The training prepares people for talking one-on-one, eye-to-eye, building a relationship through regular (weekly) visits, caring, listening, and sharing the Gospel. Those commissioned may be connected with residents in care centers or with CCC homebound members. The training also helps equip those caring for aging parents and grandparents.

High School

Serving in the local church helps students get more deeply connected to the body of Christ. When they serve, students have the opportunity to use the skills and talents God has given them, invest in the lives of others, and learn from Christ-followers who are a little bit further down the road. We'd love to see every high school student serving somewhere!

If you're a student, click here to check out different opportunities to serve around CCC.
