A five-day reading guide
Day 1
Passage: Ephesians 1:1–14
Key Verse: “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” –Ephesians 1:7
Key Thought: The moment you believed in Christ, you received (or inherited) a great deal of spiritual riches and blessings.
Prayer: Forgiveness is one of the wonderful truths of being “in Christ” found in the passage. Thank God for his forgiveness.
Day 2
Passage: Ephesians 2:1–10
Key Verse: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God...” –Ephesians 2:8
Key Thought: By God’s grace (unmerited favor), new life is a free gift God offered to you.
Prayer: Thank God for the unending grace that is freely given to you.
Day 3
Passage: Ephesians 3:16-21
Key Verse: “That you…may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ...” –Ephesians 3:18
Key Thought: Your new life enables you to experience the power of the Holy Spirit and the incredible love of Jesus.
Prayer: Thank God for his Spirit that fills you with his power and love.
Day 4
Passage: Ephesians 4:1–16
Key Verse: “From him (Jesus) the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” –Ephesians 4:16
Key Thought: Your new life in Christ includes you in on God’s creation of a new body, the Church.
Prayer: Thank God for being a part of the body of Christ—the Church—and for support and growth.
Day 5
Passage: Ephesians 6:10–20
Key Verse: “Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground...” –Ephesians 6:13a
Key Thought: This passage examines the hidden battle around us between the spiritual forces of good and evil. Therefore, in our new life we need to be spiritually prepared in order to stand firm against the enemy’s attacks.
Prayer: Thank God for his protection in your new life and the strength to stand firm.
