Trunk or Treat: A Fun and Friendly First Step

Every fall, hundreds of families gather in our parking lot for one of the most joy-filled events of the year—Trunk or Treat! On Wednesday, October 29, Christ Community Church will once again transform rows of parked cars into a colorful, candy-filled experience for kids and families across our city.
Jason Johannes, one of our Kids Ministry lead coaches, shared why his family loves being part of Trunk or Treat. A few years ago, his daughter dreamed up a Scooby-Doo–themed trunk. “It was a great way to invite our Norwegian exchange student who was living with us at the time,” Jason said. “Church can feel intimidating, but this creates a welcoming, front-porch environment. It’s a simple way to meet people, have fun, and build friendships.”

Jason also reminded us that while families may first come for candy, these small connections can lead to something much deeper. “Months later, when life gets hard, they might remember the person who welcomed them at Trunk or Treat—and that could open the door for a meaningful spiritual conversation.”
How You Can Be Involved
We would love for you to join us in making this year’s event even more memorable. Here are three easy ways to get involved:
- Donate Candy – We need mountains of candy to bless the hundreds of kids who attend.
- Bring Your Family & Friends – Invite your neighbors, co-workers, and classmates. This is a fun, low-pressure way to introduce someone new to CCC.
- Host a Trunk – Whether it’s just you and your kids, or your whole Journey Group, come up with a fun theme and create a trunk together. It’s a blast and an incredible way to meet new people.
Join the Celebration
Trunk or Treat is more than costumes and candy—it’s about creating space for connection, joy, and community. Don’t miss this opportunity to shine the light of Jesus in a fun and welcoming way.
