Q&A Sunday: Your Questions, Honest Conversations

What does the Bible say about some of life's biggest questions? And what do we do when the answers aren't always simple?
During our latest Q&A Sunday at Christ Community Church, Minister Mark took time to answer questions submitted by members of our church family. Nothing was off-limits, from theology and spiritual practices to personal struggles, cultural issues, and even a little Nebraska football.
Rather than focusing on one passage or topic, the morning was shaped by the questions people are actually asking.
Questions from the 9:00 AM service
- Do you think we will have jobs in heaven?
- Why is John the only Gospel where Jesus directly alludes to being God? Isn't John also the last Gospel written, long after Jesus was on earth?
- What is CCC's approach to deliverance ministry? What does that process look like?
- What happens with all the unanswered questions on a Sunday like this? How can we continue asking sincere questions?
- How should Christians approach artificial intelligence? AI saves time and boosts creativity, but are we becoming too dependent on it to think for ourselves?
- Are there any upcoming trips CCC is taking to Israel? Is visiting Israel worth it?
- How does someone who is completely new to Christianity begin learning about the Bible?
- I'm a first-time visitor who has been divorced twice, once due to infidelity and once due to abuse. My previous church made me feel unwelcome and blamed me for my divorces. Would someone with my story be accepted at CCC?
- What is your view on tattoos? Do you have one?
- How do we cope with and make sense of the tragic death of a young person? What does the Bible teach us about enduring pain and finding comfort in times of grief?
Questions from the 10:45 AM service
- How should Christians think about Word of Faith theology, sometimes called "name it and claim it," where people believe speaking something in faith can make it happen?
- What are your thoughts on the young earth theory? Is it possible there were dinosaurs on Noah's ark?
- How can we stop the Huskers from losing in the fourth quarter?
- As we've been going through John, I keep thinking how cool it would be to actually visit some of these places. Does CCC still do trips to Israel? What makes going there worth it?
- CCC believes in spiritual gifts, but with the rise of charismatic practices on social media, are things like praying in tongues or using anointing oils necessary to grow closer to God, or are they optional?
- Can I be baptized a second time if I turned away from God after my first baptism?
- What are some good habits, spiritual disciplines, or routines that you've found helpful for keeping your life centered on Christ?
- Does the Bible actually lean more Democrat or Republican? Both political parties often use God to support their positions.
- Is there such a thing as purgatory after death?
- How should we relate to someone who is considering walking away from their faith, or someone who already has?
These questions cover everything from biblical interpretation and spiritual practices to some deeply personal struggles. Some have fairly straightforward answers from Scripture, while others require thoughtful conversation and a willingness to wrestle with difficult issues.
At CCC, we want to be a church where people feel comfortable bringing their sincere questions, exploring what Scripture teaches, and having honest conversations about faith.
