The Heart of the Matter

"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." – Jesus

If the heart is the center of one’s being, involving emotions, reason, and will, it’s important to know what you have a heart for. It’s important because whatever your heart is drawn to will be what you value the most. You see men, your heart will not only follow after what it treasures, but it will also reveal itself for what it is. So, what you regard as treasure will expose the present condition of your heart. This is true of money, sex, power or whatever else you value most in your life.

The point of Jesus’ words is to show us whether our treasure – our heart – is in heaven or on earth. By focusing on this now, we will be glad that we did then. The heavenly minded person will be good for both heaven and earth, because he cares about integrity, humility, proper relationships and love on earth. By contrast, the person who does not have his heart focused on heaven may be corrupted by power and money or set his hope on fleeting things that will only disappoint in this life. For that reason, it is important that we focus on what you treasure now.

This Weeks Challenge: Answer the following question: If the person closest to you where to analyze your life, what would they say your treasure is? Are you pleased with that answer?
