Reid Brown Week 3
God is active and involved in all things, even the deeper things that lie below the surface. Several times in this chapter, the sovereignty of the Lord is highlighted. In verse 1, the reply of the tongue comes from the Lord. Verse 2, the Lord knows the motives of the heart. In verse 4, God works out everything for his own purposes and verse 5, justice will be administered to those so deserving. The end of this chapter stresses the involvement of the Lord in every matter.
Wisdom understands the sovereignty of the Lord. From that understanding a man will weigh motives, words spoken, acts displayed. Nothing is hidden from God. Nothing happens apart from God knowing.
How can I have this consciousness of the Lord when making decisions? I have found that dwelling on these truths and storing them in my heart helps me be mindful of the sovereignty of God.
Lord help me to know your ways. I want wisdom to turn away from unrighteousness and toward righteousness. Help me to act upon your wisdom.
