I'm new Sarpy Campus
Lord You are a Shield

David is one of the best examples of a worshiper who praised God regardless of the circumstances. He chose to turn to the Lord in his darkest and most desperate moments, not in denial of his trials, but by choosing to worship God regardless. Whether in the glory of victory, in a cave on the run or amidst great remorse over sin, David always turned his eyes to the Lord, his creator, refuge and strength. The most amazing part of all of this is that as believers we love and serve the same God today! And as great as David's enemies were in battle, our sin and darkness is that much greater in light of a perfectly Holy God. We were in need of rescue, a Savior, and God provided that once and for all in Jesus Christ. The purposed of this album is to bring attention to this theme: When we were lost, surrounded by sin and darkness, the Lord heard our cry, had mercy on us, and saved us! I pray that as you listen to this album, your heart will be turned towards the Lord in worship.

What are Your Giants
Words and music by David Potter - 2009

Is it a secret past
And you just can't shake it
Is it the tumor's grasp
They say you wont make it

Or maybe you long for the deep
But it's safer in the shallow
Maybe the call is clear
But you're afraid to follow

What are your giants?
Things so much bigger than yourself
Staring up at them
The truth is that you are overwhelmed
But your God is giant
Bigger and stronger than it all
He will deliver
Giants will fall

May your faith be as strong
As the boy on the hill who sang his songs
To a God who told the boy to go
He found strength in the Lord and chose five stones
Lord You are a Shield
(Psalm 3)
Words and music by David Potter - 2009

When the enemy
Was all that I could see
I cried out to the Lord
He heard my voice
And he rescued me
His Grace has set me free
What a Savior what a God

Lord you are a shield about me
My glory the lifter of my head
Lord you are the one who saves me
My glory the lifter of my head
You're the lifter of my head

I was dead within
Surrounded by my sin
I cried out to the Lord
He heard my voice
And at Calvary
He beat death and set me free
What a Savior what a God

Arise O Lord for salvation is Yours
Only You can save us
Arise O Lord for salvation is Yours
By Your death You raised us
In the Land of the Living
(Psalm 142)
Words and music by David Potter 2009

Lord hear my cry
For I'm in desperate need
The darkness that surrounds
Is far too much for me

Set me free from my prison
That I may praise Your name

You are my refuge, my portion
In the land of the living
You are my refuge, my portion
You're all that I need

When I am alone
When my spirit has grown faint
I will lift up my voice
To the one who knows my way

As the storm passes over
I'll hide beneath Your wing
Sunrise
(Psalm 30)
Words and music by Mike Harvat - 2009

Like a sunrise, after years of moonlight
Like true joy, after weeping all night
Is Your Love, is Your Love

I cried out in my darkest moment
And you heard me, and you came to save me
With Your love, with Your Love

You turned my sorrow
Into joy overwhelming
You and your love
Turned my mourning to dancing
Your faithfulness
Is never ending so I give thanks forever

When You're with me
I am never shaken
Like a mountain
That is firmly planted
Is Your Love, Is Your Love
Great is the Lord
(1 Chron 16)
Words and music by David Potter - 2009

Splendor and majesty are before him
Strength and joy in his dwelling place
So bring an offering come before Him
Give to the Lord the glory due His name

Join with the heavens and earth to sing
Proclaim the salvation of our King
Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised

You have gathered us together
Chosen by Your sovereign grace
Jesus You've changed us forever
What can we do but praise Your Holy Name

For your steadfast love
Lord we thank you
For Your goodness to us
Lord we thank you
For Your death on the Cross
Lord we thank You
For Your blood shed for us
Lord we thank You
O God of Mercy
(Psalm 51)
Words by Isaac Watts (public domain),
music and lyric adaptation by David Potter - 2009

O God of mercy, hear my call
My load of guilt remove
Break down this separating wall
That bars me from You love

Give me the presence of Your grace
Then my rejoicing tongue
Will speak of Your righteousness
And make Thy praise my song

A soul oppressed with sin's desert
My God will not despise
A humble grown a broken heart
Is our best sacrifice

No blood of goat no cattle slain
For sin could e'er atone
The death of Christ shall still remain
Sufficient and alone
The Seas Have lifted up their voices
(Psalm 93)
Words and music by Mike Harvat

The Lord reigns, He's clothed in majesty
He's clothed in majesty and armed with strength
The world holds steadfast all it's days
Your throne is never ending without sway

The seas have lifted up Their voices
Crashing to the shore
More powerful than thunderous oceans
God forevermore

Your law stands firm and holiness adorns
Your home for countless days O God our Lord
Your law stands firm and holiness adorns
Your home for countless days O God our Lord

Lord of Elijah now we pray
Give us a picture of that day
When Holy fire came down
Burned up the altar and the ground
Lord we are calling on your name
Believing that You never change
So send Your fire here today
As we cry out

The Lord He is God
He is good
With our eyes we've seen it
The Lord He is God
He is good
All his people say it

And He's turning our hearts
He's turning our hearts back again

He who watches over Israel
Will never slumber nor sleep
He who watches over Israel
Is watching over me

How wonderful Your works O Lord
How precious are Your thoughts
My soul will cling to You O Lord
As Your right hand lifts me up

If I lift my eyes to the mountains
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of heaven and earth

Come, Thou long-expected Jesus
born to set Thy people free
from our fears and sins release us
let us find our rest in Thee

Israel's strength and consolation
hope of all the earth thou art
dear desire of every nation
joy of every longing heart

Born Thy people to deliver
born a child, and yet a king
born to reign in us for ever
now Thy gracious kingdom bring

By Thine own eternal Spirit
rule in all our hearts alone
by Thine all-sufficient merit
raise us to thy glorious throne
