  • Parents: How has suffering impacted your life in a positive way (either immediately or eventually)?

  • Together: Pray taht God will give you a heart of compassion for those suffering and opportunities to help them.

The reality of Hell...is God mean?

Today in WIRED, we discussed the reality of Hell and how we should respond today in light of God’s coming judgment...

Students: From our discussion, share your thoughts about weather the reality of Hell makes God seem mean.

Parents: Share a way that you have witnessed a conflict between the temporary things of this world and eternal relationship with God.

Quote of the day: Live as though Christ died yesterday, rose from the grave today and is coming back tomorrow!

Together: Pray for God to open your eyes to the opportunities you have to live in light of Jesus’ return.

Parenting article

Here's an interesting article on what they're calling overparenting. You may find several points that you don't agree with since it isn't written from a "Christian" perspective, but I think you will find it challenging and thought provoking. Feel free to post your thoughts in the "comment" section.

Discussion Q's for 11/16

Note to parents: Our topic today may be a bit awkward for you to discuss with your students, but I hope you don't give in to the temptation to duck out of the discussion today.  They are being bombarded with messages on the subject that are contrary to God's Word and they need to process things with you.  Have fun!

Big idea: we discussed God's perspective on homosexuality and how we should respond to those involved in a Christ-like way...
  • Students: From our discussion, share what God says about homosexuality in the Bible and one way we should respond to homosexualtiy like Christ.
  • Parents: In what ways have you interacted with homosexual people?  How did you show them a Christ-like example?
  • Students: Do you think most of the people your age consider homosexualtiy to be a bad thing or a normal thing?
  • Together: Pray that God will help you respond to the homosexual people you encounter with a Christ-like attitude.

Schedule Change

I made one of those silly mistakes when we were creating our fall schedule.  I tried to move Thanksgiving up a week, but no one else thought it was a good idea.  Since Thanksgiving is actually on November 27, we need to flip our plans for November 23 and 30.

Original plan - no Stampede on November 23; we would have Stampede on November 30

New plan - we will have Stampede on November 23; we will not have Stampede on November 30

If I have confused you, feel free to give me a call or drop me an email.

Haven't we been saying this??

I just read an interesting article on Fox news about study that is linking teen pregnancy and watching sexually charged tv shows.  I think this is something that we already knew instinctively, but it is affirming that scientists are seeing the link as well.  I don't think we should run home and throw out our televisions, but I think we can take away a reminder that the students are greatly impacted by what they absorb through the media.
