I'm new Sarpy Campus
Multisite evaluation and update

July 24, 2007

  1. Alignment of Christ Community Church's mission and vision through starting a multi-site?

OUR MISSION "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." - Matthew 28:19-20

The local fellowship of believers will be empowered to REACH THE CITY and to REACH THE NATIONS as God deepens its fellowship, prospers its community-based ministries and provides for its staff." CCC-Sarpy will have in its "DNA" the primary goal of reaching the lost, making disciples in the context of a loving, caring community in order to have kingdom impact and bring glory to God.

  2. Multi-Site to champion R.I.S.K.S.?

This site by its beginning Relies on God. We will offer forgiveness, growth and healing for all who attend through the worship services, children's/youth ministries or Journey Groups. By our existence we will Initiate Interest through prayer, reciprocal relationships and spiritual conversations. Part of our foundation will be to Serve People in our neighborhoods, in the city and in the world. We will be known as a gathering of Kingdom Investors who are joyfully committing time, treasure and talents for the furtherance of God's Kingdom. Ultimately, through all of this, we want to be Shaped into Christ-Likeness by living in the Spirit, loving without exception and leaning on community primarily through groups.

Products are a result of money, programs, organization and savy marketing. Produce is a result of life, health, God-directed and organic. It is our prayer that each person will demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit as they are known as disciples who take R.I.S.K.S.

  3. Healthy church life affirmed and embraced at multi-site?

    • The Sarpy site will aim at pursuing a ministry of savoring God in a God-centered, Christ-exalting, Spirit-led, corporate worship.
    • The site will aim at pursuing a dependence on God's grace and mercy in personal and corporate prayer.
    • This site will focus on helping people to grow spiritually through personal, self feeding study and in small group relationships. The body will also be known for mentoring [Titus 2] young and old and for each adult to be aware and focus on leaving legacy for succeeding generations of children and youth.
    • CCC-Sarpy is committed to Journey Groups. Where we pursue mutual care for each other in loving relationships whether in times of joy or sorrow, comfort or crisis, health or brokenness.
    • We are passionate about community involvement to show the value of Christ to fallen people and fallen culture. We want to display love across racial and cultural lines.
    • We want to be known as a gathering that expresses compassion to relieve human suffering in order to show the justice, mercy and satisfying love of Christ.
    • This site is dedicated to cross-cultural missions where the love of Christ is demonstrated by words and actions.
    • This site is committed to pursue godly leadership. Those who lead, lead by example and are men and women of integrity [Titus 1]
    • CCC-Sarpy will strive to create an atmosphere of leadership development. Where we understand the importance of "equipping the saints for the work of ministry" [Ephesians 4].
    • The Sarpy site will be a warm, caring atmosphere where it is understood that "no perfect people are allowed" and will work at meeting people where they are.

  4. Qualified Leadership

There are 94 on the Constant Contact email list, of which approximately 50 who have volunteered for specific ministry areas and/or wherever needed to get the campus up and running. At our August 5th meeting we will begin signing up for specific ministries.

  5. Suitable Location identified?

    • The church data base lists 2,479 who have connection to CCC-Old Mill and reside in Sarpy County. [1,315 members/adherents + 1,164 prospects]. From this list we will send out regular mailings through January, informing people of our new site, inviting them to attend and the start dates for services.
    • Highway 370 corridor has been identified as the most strategic location for this site
    • 40+ sites [minimum of 20 minutes from CCC-Old Mill] have been looked into to either purchase, lease, or lease to buy.
    • Lewis & Clark Middle School in Bellevue is the recommended site for the Sarpy Site. The school is located 1.5 miles south of Hwy 370 on 36th Street, just south of 36th and Capehart Road.
    • By anticipating growth at the site, we see this as a temporary location. Based on population growth trends, we eventually see the need to be more centrally located in Sarpy County along the Hwy 370 corridor between 60th and 90th Streets.

  6. Timetable

Every Sunday Prayer meeting in FLC 130
August 5 Sign up for ministry teams, Journey Groups, etc.
August 19 Journey Groups will begin in homes or at CCC-Old Mill
October ?? "Ready, Set, Go!" Large group meeting to fill in areas of need
November 3-6 Multi Site Practicum in Naperville, IL
January 20 Commissioning service for those going to CCC-East Sarpy
    January 27 "Soft Opening" services
    February 3 "Soft Opening" services
February 10 "Grand Opening" public services which will include two worship services at 9:00 & 10:45 along with offering comprehensive nursery through Sixth Grade Ministry.

These dates provide sufficient time for leadership to recruit and train leaders, co-leaders and workers for the multi site. There will also be various vision sharing meetings held during the year. Preaching at times will point to the biblical values of starting a multi site and the need to be involved. There will also be time for the ordering of materials, supplies and equipment necessary to be a "portable church".

  7. Funding

Christ Community has/will faithfully support the Sarpy site through initial financial support and the release of Steve Walters to be the site Pastor. CCC-Old Mill is committed to helping with the initial start up costs incurred with this site. The Mid-America District has committed $100,000 for the first year of the multi-site. Money designated to help while there are higher expenses than income. There is also a commitment by Steve to work with CCC-Old Mill to help raise the additional $250,000 [$150,000 for equipment and hard costs, $100,000 as a contingency fund for unanticipated expenses] needed for the start up and operational costs for the first year the church is in operation. By choosing Lewis & Clark Middle School, this will ultimately help us become financially sustainable sooner.

  8. Coaching

Over the past 25 years of ministry I realized that I function best in a team/coach environment. After my assessment with the North Central Ministry Development Center given to me in June, one take away was a recommendation to hire a coach. It is desired to obtain the use of a coach in the first year of the multi-site start up. An AID will be submitted requesting the use of Jim Tomberlin [copies of Jim's coaching available] to be Steve's coach. Initial cost would be $1,500 + expenses for a one day consult with me, the staff and Multi-site leadership. At that time there would be a decision of if to retain Jim for the following 12 months.

  9. The Bottom Line

It is essential for the leadership, staff and CCC-Old Mill body to understand that this multi-site launch is not just another program or a solution to our space issue. CCC-Sarpy is because we have chosen to become a church of multi-sites to reach the unreached.
